They prefer a stable, high-humidity environment with plenty of hiding spots, leaf litter, and a moist substrate that never fully dries out. Because they are considered a more difficult species, consistent conditions and careful monitoring are important to keep them healthy and active.

These isopods should be watered and fed about twice a week. Their diet can include yams or other root vegetables, along with a good-quality fish food as a protein source. Remove any uneaten food before it molds, and always make sure there are both moist and slightly drier areas in the enclosure so they can choose their preferred microclimate.
