Silver springtails are tiny, shimmering soil-dwellers known for their quick movements and ability to “spring” into the air when disturbed. Measuring just a few millimeters long, they have slender bodies with a silvery or metallic sheen that catches the light, making them surprisingly noticeable despite their size. These agile creatures thrive in moist environments such as soil, leaf litter, moss, and decaying wood, where they play an important role in breaking down organic matter.
This order will come with up to 25+ springtails in a cup of sphagnum moss and they are Harmless to humans, plants, and animals, silver springtails feed mainly on fungi, algae, and decomposing material, helping to recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem.
